Rosa parks is one of those people - like Ghandi and Mandela for whom it is social death to even comment slightingly. However her latest activity has made ,me think of her with sadness pity and not a little contempt.
She is taking pop group OutKast members, Andre 3000 and Big Boi to court over breach of copyright.
The multi-award-winning pair made a tune that did not mention Parks by name, but did refer to moving to the back of the bus.
Parks’ lawyers intend to argue OutKast defamed the 91-yearold and breached her trademark and publicity. Potential witnesses for Parks include Oprah Winfrey, Coretta Scott King and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, although many of them are expected to avoid appearing.
This is simply nuts. What is more the case seems to have gone through all number of hoops before now. It has even been ok'd by the Supreme Court.
Now it seems that the 91 year old is claiming that she is too ill to appear in ourt, but still says that the band defamed her.
What a piece of sanctimoious foolishness on the part of an icon, for icon she is. Put is this way she is famous, her action has gone into history and culture. It is re-invented by modern culture in a thousand ways. If this is her attitude, then she will condemn her act to a dwindling band of forgotten moments. No more
